This has come a lot in recent conversation and always takes me back to a session in my training so I thought it might be useful…

I was going to… but…
… I am really busy
… I don’t think it will go down well with
… I don’t think I can
… I don’t know how
… I am scared.

But is a great word for building barriers. We are all fantastic at coming up with excuses without really thinking about what it is that we don’t want to do or why.

However,

I was going to… and…
… I have time this afternoon. It won’t take me long
… I am interested to see how they respond
… I will have a go
… I can find out how from…
… it is a bit scary and that’s ok.

But is a barrier. And opens a gate. You choose whether you want to walk through the gate or what is really stopping you.

If you change one small word, if can change your approach to allsorts of challenges. Try it. Let me know how it goes.

September is full of changes…

A little bit of joy

Once a year, I drag myself out of bed at stupid o’clock. I spend the weekend in a tent (very un-me kind of activity). and I moan like a trooper in the lead up to the weekend. And…

I spend the weekend with an amazing group of people.

I laugh at the most ridiculous things.

I dance and sing at the top of my voice.

This morning, we were rewarded with the most beautiful sunrise.

Somethings are worth a little bit of discomfort for the joy they bring.

The pleasure of networking

I was at a networking meeting yesterday with the amazing group of people who make up CoCoSpheres. I was talking about the coaching I provide, particularly systemic team coaching. One of the group commented…

“Wow, how many teams would benefit to remove toxic environments, before they’re established”

It made me feel seen.

Coaching is often seen as ‘the dark arts’ so to have someone from outside the industry clearly identify the positive impact it could have was incredibly empowering.

I must have explained it really clearly.

Persmission to slow down…

Hot weather doesn’t just affect us physically, it can also have a real impact on how we think, feel and cope with everyday life.

You may nottice you’re feeling:

less patient than ususal
more tired or overwhelmed
finding it harder to concentrate
more emotional or irritable

Sometimes, all we need is permission to slow down.

Take a break. Drink plenty of water, Rest when you need to. Let fo of the pressure to be constantly productive.

And if you’re finding that life feels overwhelming, not just because of the heat, but because of everything you’re carrying, you don’t hvae to navigate it on your own.

Life coaching can provide space to pause, reflect and regain clarity, helping you move forward with renewed confidence and purpose.

Be kind to yourself. Your wellbeing matters, whatever the weather.

Life is full of transitions

This time of year often brings significant change… exams are over, university courses are finishing, school years are ending and new chapters are about to being.

Even positive changes can leave us feeling uncertain, overwhelmed or unsure of what comes next. That’s completely normal. Every transition requires time, space and a little self-compassion as we adjust to a new reality.

Remember, you don’t have to have all the answers straight away.

If you’re feeling stuck, lost or simply need some support navigating your next steps, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity, confidence and purpose.

Back down to Earth with a bump???

Getting back to routine after such a momentous time came feel a bit sad, and a bit flat, but what if we choose to sit with those feelings for a moment…

Networking Event

This morning I had the opportunity to speak at a county-wide business networking event about what coaching means to me. Although it was only a short session, it was a valuable chance to share my approach—and, judging by the feedback, it resonated with many of the business owners in the room.

One of the key points I emphasised is that coaching isn’t a one-size-fits-all service. For me, it’s about building a genuine partnership with clients—working alongside them to help unlock their potential and support them in becoming the best version of themselves.

I also spoke about the relationship between work and life. They don’t operate in isolation, and the reality is that each inevitably influences the other. At times, work can feel all-consuming—deadlines, events, client demands—while life outside of work can bring its own challenges, whether that’s illness, moving home, or major personal changes.

Recognising and managing this balance is essential. Coaching provides a space to step back, gain perspective, prioritise what matters, and ultimately reduce the risk of burnout.

It was a privilege to share these thoughts and connect with others navigating similar challenges.
